James brings more than 40 years of hands-on business experience to his role as Managing Director at eCollect. He has operated businesses since his late teens including:

Windsurfer hire (1977 – 1981

Yacht charter (1990 – 2001)

Motor accident repairs (1984 – 1989)

Debt recovery (2002 to the present)

He holds a B.A. and LL.B. from Monash University and was admitted as a lawyer in 1983. He is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Additionally, he is the Managing Partner of eCollect’s associated legal firm E C Legal.

He founded the Kajji Foundation to create opportunities for young Indigenous Australians to live and study in Melbourne, and continues to serve as honorary legal counsel for Squash and Racquetball Australia.

This initiative starts at home with family friendly policies in our workplaces. eCollect has a special interest in the Kajji Foundation who provide scholarships to Aboriginal Australians from the Northern Territory to come to Melbourne for the last three years of their secondary schooling and live with a Melbourne family.

eCollect plays its part in making the world a better place to live.

Away from the office, James is a proud husband, father of two, and grandfather of two. He stays active through squash, yoga, and gym sessions, and spends weekends outdoors bushwalking, surfing, or sailing classic wooden yachts, a lifelong passion that reflects his love for challenge, movement, and the sea.
